As the executive vice president of the Alachua County Medical Society (ACMS), Sally Lawrence helped coordinate the COACH weekly wellness walks designed to get people in our community moving and making healthier choices. The ACMS also started the We Care Physician Referral network a community-based program whereby volunteer physicians, dentists, hospitals and ancillary providers meet the needs of the uninsured and economically disadvantaged Alachua County residents. Last year over $5 million in free services were provided.
Lawrence is active with the Rotary Club of Gainesville and is currently on the Executive Board of the Gainesville Women’s Forum. She co-chaired the auction for the local chapter of the Red Cross. Dee Dee Smith and Lawrence co-founded the Girls Place “Hats, Hearts, and Handbags” fundraising event. Lawrence also served as the logistics chair for seven years, in addition. She has been a Junior Achievement board member, Alachua County Coalition for the Homeless member and a volunteer for the Child Advocacy Center.
“I consider serving our community as a volunteer an honor and a privilege,” said Lawrence.
