Jones believes in supporting the strong efforts and ideas of others through sharing his time and resources. He is involved with over 10 impactful organizations including The Education Foundation of Alachua County, Gainesville Area Innovation Network, Children’s Movement of Florida, Take Stock in Children, Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce and Junior Achievement. Jones helped transition the Nonprofit Center of North Central Florida to the leadership of the Community Foundation.
To date, Jones is most excited about his ability to help connect people who have energy and ideas to resources and partners who can move them toward success. One such example is the enhanced KidCare enrollment in Alachua County over the last 12 months — Jones helped unify the community effort required for the program.
Improving the Greater Gainesville community and the lives of others is a critical passion for Jones. He believes programs that position young people for success in their lives and careers are pivotal.
According to Jones, this community has more talent per square foot than almost anywhere else. He feels that our potential is almost unlimited, and with our resources properly aligned, there is almost nothing we can’t accomplish.
Jones came to Gainesville in 1979 to attend college and thought he would stay for two years — he’s never left. He has found more great people and interesting opportunities than he ever imagined.
