Gil Levy believes in paying it forward by focusing on improving the quality of life in Greater Gainesville. He has been involved with various organizations such as the Newberry-Jonesville Chamber of Commerce, the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce, the North Central Florida YMCA, 352 for the Arts, the Sebastian Ferrero Foundation, and Leadership Gainesville 40, and he is the event chair for the American Heart Association’s 2016 Heart Ball. Levy recently served as a mentor for the Startup Quest program and guided a team of potential entrepreneurs; he has provided guidance to various teams of University of Florida students who had to organize charitable events as part of their curriculum; and he has made Tioga Town Center a community resource for charitable events throughout the year.
Raising his children to be valuable members of the community is Levy’s foremost accomplishment in life.
As the community that adopted his family 33 years ago, Levy is passionate about Gainesville. He has changed careers four times, but he is unwilling to leave the community and feels that the more he can dedicate to working with businesses to support transformational change, the better.
Levy believes the unprecedented unity and spirit of cooperation among the region’s city and county leaders, the University of Florida and local business people foretell a great future of increased employment opportunities and a positive impact on the quality of life.
As an avid photographer, Levy prefers landscapes and architectural features — they don’t move or complain if they don’t look quite right in the photo.
