Rhonda Wilson is the founder and executive director of the Star Center Children’s Theatre. She founded the Star Center without any funding, just a vision and hope. What began as a small afterschool program in a daycare, has grown into a full time season of programming housed in a 7000 sq ft theatre. For the past 17 years, she has volunteered her time and resources to the community by using the arts to educate and empower.

“I am very passionate about the arts and its necessity in building a whole person. As an educator I believe children learn in and through the arts,” Wilson said. “I told myself if I ever had an opportunity to provide arts to youth I would.”

Wilson has helped others make a positive difference in their lives through perseverance and hard work. She has been adamant about selecting productions that educate and highlight the triumphs and the perseverance of people as an example for the youth. Rhonda Wilson has been honored and recognized nationally, statewide, regionally and locally for her 17 years of community work.

“I’m only as successful as the kids and people I can reach through the arts,” Wilson said. “I’ve always been a giving person and that hasn’t changed. I know I receive far more than I can ever give. So I’ll just keep giving and hope that inspires others.”
